About

About Sharalaina

I was raised right here in Valencia County, and I’ve lived here nearly my entire life. I went through school right here too, K-12, graduating from Los Lunas High School. From there, I earned my bachelor’s degree from UNM, and I’ve also taken classes locally at UNMVC. I took did a short stint in Renton, Washington for a certificate program in band instrument repair, to bring back a skill I use every day at J Sharp Music.

For the last 13 years, I’ve owned J Sharp Music, right on Main Street. I’ve watched this community grow, watched it struggle sometimes, and watched neighbors show up for each other again and again. Running a small business here has taught me things you can’t learn any other way: how to manage a budget carefully, how to listen when someone’s frustrated, how to not get scammed, and how to actually get things done.

That’s the kind of commissioner I want to be for District 1: not someone who shows up once every four years asking for your vote, but someone who’s already in the room, already listening, already invested in this community’s future because it’s my future too.

I’d be honored to earn your vote on November 3rd.

Issues

01

Accountability

After the county lost $2 million to a scam this year, I’ll push for real financial oversight so it never happens again.

02

Small Business

As a 13 year small business owner, I’ll fight for policies that make it easier, not harder, to run a business here.

03

Smart Growth

Valencia County is the fastest growing county in New Mexico. We need our roads, water, and services to keep pace.

04

Water

Water scarcity is already visible in dry stretches of our own Rio Grande, and I’ll take that seriously every time.

05

Affordability

I’ll fight to keep county taxes and fees from climbing higher than needed for families who are already stretched thin.
